I have to make this fast

Because I am posting, it is obvious that I am supposed to be writing a paper. And I am. I am about seven pages into my ten page paper. And I still have other homework to do on top of that. But I have nine hours before midnight, which is my personal deadline to be in bed. I cannot wait for this semester to be over. It has been a hellish one. I have ended up changing my major because I have found that I absolutely abhor chemistry and I am never taking another English class.

I can't believe that it's almost over. I never thought the end would come, and now I only have four more days of class before finals. I got through chemistry lab without blowing myself up (that in and of itself is a Christmas miracle), and I am going to pull off decent grades (hopefully). Well, my time is running out and my paper won't write itself (although that would be awesome) so have an amazing week and listen to "Disenchanted" by My Chemical Romance. For some reason, it reminds me of all non-college school years.

Winter Wonderland

So, I woke up this morning to about 4 inches of snow. And it is still snowing!! We've probably gotten like 6 inches so far. After shoveling the walks, I went outside to play with Snowflake. She LOVES the snow. She was rolling around in it like a pig in the mud. But of course, when I tried to take pictures of her, she was very uncooperative. I only got two pictures of her, and I can only display one because she decided to go to the bathroom in the other picture. Thanks to the snow, we can finally see her at night.

I know it's early, but....

I was cleaning my room this weekend, and I thought "Hey, since I have to clean anyway, why don't I just put up my Christmas decorations?" So basically, my room now looks like the North Pole exploded, even though Thanksgiving hasn't even come yet:

This is the top shelf of my desk. I'm going to put a little Christmas picture in the red frame. I got the white and green candle holders at Bath and Body Works last year, and the big red candle I won at our annual New Year's Eve Bingo party at Grandma's house. And yes, I realize that the Halloween tissues are out of place, but I have to use them up!

This is my Whimsical Penguin that I got at Costco for $10. It is so cute. You can push it and it won't fall over, unless it is done maliciously and then yes, it will fall over.

I have had this wreath forever. I made it like eight years ago and it still looks great (if I do say so myself). Even though I had to use packing tape to secure one of the little presents, it is a fabulous piece. There are two shelf sitters on my television.

This is the top of my dresser. I got the big Santa boot from Kirklands last year (on clearance, of course). The two oil warmers on either side of it I got from Bath and Body Works this year. The water globe next to the white one is my FAVORITE thing. It is so pretty. I bought it in October, but it was the last one so I had to. I also LOVE the figurine of Santa kneeling to Baby Jesus. And the candle in front of it smells AMAZING.

I got this snowman this year at Kirklands (thank goodness for those 25% off coupons). It is actually a bird feeder, but I put it at the foot of my bed. My mother keeps threatening to put birdseed in it.

Here is my little tree. It always fall over without any assistance. It is so bright that it lights up my whole room. I do have some tacky ornaments on it, but for the most part it is beautiful.

I tried taking a picture of it with the lights out. I had to hold my finger over the auto-flash. It looks a lot better in person.
I got these boxes at Kirkland's last week. They are so friggin' cute. (I know, I am going to blow a circuit. I'm like Clark Griswald). P.S. The nativity water globe is actually my sister's. But since she left her crap here, I am going to use it.

This is my little shelf sitter Santa.

This is my little chest of drawers next to my bookcase. I got the candle holder at Kirkland's and the other pieces from previous Bingo Nights.

This is one of my favorite new additions to my Christmas collection. I got this super cute quilt, shams and blanket at Target. They are so comfortable. And I got the pillows from Costco. I absolutely LOVE it.
Well, that's my room. Isn't it amazing? J/K. Once again, I have put off my paper to blog. But I really don't want to write my paper, so everyone wins. Plus I haven't posted since September, so I figured it was high time to do so.

One of my new favorite songs on my iPod was one that I actually got for free. Every week the iTunes store offers about three songs for free. One of them is a Latin song, and most of the time the other two aren't worth listening to, but once in a while a really good song will come out. For example, a few weeks ago they had "Pictures of You" by the Last Goodnight. Excellent song. However, the one I am really loving right now is "Best Days" by Graham Colton. It is amazing. Love it. Even if you just listen to the 30 second blip on iTunes you will love it too. And just for good measure and keeping with my Christmas-themed room, I will throw in "All I Want for Christmas is You" by my signature band My Chemical Romance. It's not available on iTunes, but you should be able to YouTube it. It is amazing as well.

Only two days of school this week and then it is work, work, work. But no Chem Lab! Woohoo! Hydrochloric acid is not my friend. If I don't manage to post during the rest of the week (But I will try since I am getting my hair done on Tuesday. Pics, pics, pics), Have a very Happy Thanksgiving and remember to live life to the fullest.

Kristen

P.S. My friend Lisa just had an adorable baby boy last Thursday. He is so cute. Check out her blog in my links.

Crazy Times

Oh my gosh I have been so busy with school and last weekend and all of this week so far I have been sick. I've got so much to do! (So why am I sitting here blogging?)

My second job this summer (on top of working at Allyse's Bridal and teaching piano) was working at Bridal Manufacturing Designs in Mapleton. I loved it there. It was so amazing. It was basically just me and Whitney making brides's dreams come true by sending dresses to stores, but we had between one and five adorable boys in every day. And Jim, our boss.

Speaking of the boys, here is a picture of my amazing friend Tyson on his way out to Mapleton:

Anne had just given him a tub of Ute ice cream, because they had won their last game and BYU (his favorite team) had just gotten creamed. I brought my camera just to capture this moment of incredulous disgust on his face. Gotta love it.

It is so cold in my house. I had a bottle of water in my room and it had condensation on the INSIDE when I got home from school. I'm wearing three layers and my fuzzy pink socks right now. It's super crazy because just three days ago it was almost 90 degrees outside and today it is 50. This just confirms my theory that global warming is a bunch of doowiddley.

I just got an e-mail from my friend LISA today. She moved to Idaho a few months ago. We worked together at Allyse's and she is so funny. But sometimes she would take advantage of my jumpy personality and make sudden moves to scare me. She has a blog too! Check it out. She is expecting a baby boy soon and she looks so cute!

Well, I better stop blogging and start on my ten-page paper :)

OH! I almost forgot! My iPod pick for this week is the new James Blunt CD "All the Lost Souls". All of it, the whole thing. It is totally amazing.

Anyway, got lots to do!

I AM ALIVE!!!

Holy Moley!! - It's been a loooong time since I have posted. I have been so CRAZY busy. I've been working two jobs all summer (well, ever since Warped Tour) and I just started school. This is the most intense semester I've had so far. I have to take this ethics and values class where I have to write a one-page paper (single-spaced) for every class period and I have to write a ten page research paper at the end of the semester. Oh and I have to write another ten page paper research paper for my English class too. Is it wrong to submit the same paper for both classes? My problem is that I am a lazy genius.

Just to prove it, I am writing two papers due tomorrow right now. I am the queen of procrastination. But it's not like I am not just sitting around picking my nose. Yesterday I worked eight hours, went to the library, cleaned my kitchen and then passed out on the couch, watching SNL of course.

I did just get back from vacation. I went to see Nate and Angela in Seattle again. Angela and I went to the Puyallup State Fair and saw Chris Daughtry in concert. Angela wanted to go on the rides, and I was very apprehensive, for I have not been on a roller coaster since I was about five or six years old and it was the little dragon thing at Lagoon. I totally lost it back then, so the butterflies were churning double time at the fair. But I wanted to be a good sport and be brave, so we went on the egg beater first. HOLY COW!! It was so intense. I was on the inside of the seat and everytime it flipped around I swore I was going to crash into the other carts.

Then we went on this crazy zigzag ride that went high in the air and then jerked you around. I was so scared. I had to take a potty break between every ride just to make sure I didn't wet myself.

Then we went on the Monster Mouse, which we were going to save for last, but we went on it anyway. That was so scary. I thought I was just going to be thrown out of the car. Angela took pictures of us while we were in the car and we were both just screaming.

After that, I wanted to go on a safer ride, so we agreed to go on the Matterhorn. You just sit in a car and it spins you around a little mountain. I thought it would be nice and easy. Oh no. Once again, I thought I was going to fly out of the cart. I thought I was going to die. But Angela reminded me about the average age of the rest of the riders and felt very silly for my trepidation.

Angela wanted to go on this ride:

But luckily, someone threw up on it and they had to close it down to clean it.

We each had one ticket left. Angela wanted to go on this crazy ride called the Jumper, but I did NOT want to go on it. I finally plucked up enough courage and we got on the ride. It took forever for them to get it going though. They had to recheck all of our harnesses to make sure they were ok and all the instructions on the panels were in GERMAN!! I was soooo nervous. The girls sitting next to me were funny though. When we finally took off, we started spinning in a circle (we were in chairs on a disc) and then we went so high! I closed my eyes for the longest time. I finally had the courage to open them and it wasn't as scary as I had thought. It was way fun. For some reason it wasn't as bad as the other rides. I think I liked it even more than Angela did. And I didn't pee my pants. :)

The concert was really great, ( I got a t-shirt. Woohoo!) although I must admit I thought he could have done a better job. He just seemed to stand in the middle of the stage the whole time, but he did bust out his own guitar and play some great acoustic parts. I was a little disappointed that he didn't sing all the songs on his CD, but it was still amazing. He sounded so incredible too. It was so much fun. We sat next to this older couple and they were so funny. They watched me, Angela, and Kimm sing all the lyrics and they were just laughing and having a great time. Here is a video of the concert. You can hear us all singing too.

It was so much fun. But now I am back to the drudgery of school and work. I don't think I have ever had a more intense phase of my life. I have so much schoolwork, so much work work, and so much regular life work that I am feeling totally overwhelmed. But I guess what doesn't kill us makes us stronger. Although next semester I am taking totally easy classes. I am also never taking any chemistry or English classes ever again. I feel the need to revert to my internal nerdiness and major in math.

This is one of the things that I hate about being an adult: all the freakin' hard decisions. I want to go back to elementary school where my one fear was climbing the ropes in gym class. Growing up blows. I just want a juice box and a blanket so I can have nap time. I guess it will all work out in end, but right now I am struggling. I've kind of got that philosophy right now that life sucks and then you die. But I think once this semester is over and December is here that things will be a lot better and I will finally be able to breathe.

P.S. Emo kid is out. Kristen has a new boy in her life and trying to drum up enough confidence to let him know that he needs to ask her out.

Well, I better get back to writing my papers. If luck will have it I might be able to get four whole hours of sleep tonight!

Fried Like an Egg

One week ago, I went to Warped Tour and got an incredible sunburn. I was in Salt Lake this week on business and it totally blistered and started peeling. My nose started peeling first and it was not attractive. My arms and neck are still way bad. The picture of my arm doesn't really do it justice, but the one of my neck is pretty accurate. My friend Amy at work makes me show everyone my neck because it's the worst sunburn she's ever seen. Needless to say, I've used a lot of Aloe Vera and taken a substantial amount of ibuprofen. However, I still think the worst part of this whole thing is my embarrassing tan line. I mean, just look at my neck. It goes from light brown, to bright red, to pasty white. I look like a freakin' tub of Neapolitan ice cream.

WARPED TOUR!!!

07/07/07 - I spent this lucky day at the Vans Warped Tour. I won free tickets from The Truth About Tobacco and got two full-access passes to the event. I went with my friends Lauran, Trisha, and Nate and it was so much fun. It was way hot and I got totally fried. As Brain said to Pinky, "I am in a considerable amount of pain."

I was wearing a t-shirt, so on top of my sunburn I'm going to have a nasty farmer's tan. And, I am ashamed to say it, I am officially a redneck. My neck got the worst of it, but there is a small white patch where my ponytail was hanging. My left arm also got extra burned from driving there and back.

There were so many people there. We didn't really take full advantage of our passes, but we did accidentally wander backstage once, but the band that had been playing went straight to their trailer so the next group could get on. But it was a lot of fun. Very enjoyable. I got a t-shirt and a free hat. I wish I had taken my camera, but I left it in the car in case we weren't allowed to take them in. But I've got the CDs, merch, and wristband to prove I was there.
I didn't post songs last week because I've been so busy. But two songs that I've been listening to lately actually have the same name, but are both very different and very good.
"Satellite" by Guster and by Kiss Kiss.
and the MCR song I've been enjoying most the past week is "My Way Home is Through You"
Woohoo!! Warped Tour!!

Dreams, Mugs, and Bug Bites

I have the craziest dreams in the world. I am so not even kidding. One time I woke up screaming, not because I was having a nightmare, but I dreamt that someone jumped out from behind a wall and startled me. So anyway, last night I had a dream that I totally met Bon Jovi and Tico kept taking my credit cards because he thought it was funny when I looked in my wallet and couldn't find them. But then dreamt that I was telling my mom about the dream. And then I woke up and actually told my mom about the dream within a dream. Nuts, huh?

For my birthday (3 months ago) my sister gave me a "gift certificate" saying that she would take me to Color Me Mine. Last Saturday we went and I got to paint a mug. They had to fire it in the kiln, so I got it back last night. I wanted to paint it black with white polka dots, but they turned out to be more like polka ovals. I still like it though.

And finally, my bug bite. Last night my ankle started itching, so naturally, I scratched at it and felt this bump. Lo and behold, I have a HUGE bug bite. I put some Benadryl today and haven't scratched it at all, but it is totally enflamed. I have a picture of it (it's not a very good pic, my mom took it; my family did get a laugh out of me hopping around on one leg with a camera in one hand and holding my bitten leg in the other trying to get a picture).

This picture is so bad. I'm trying to decide if I have skinny legs or huge ankles. (But at least I don't have cankles. Woohoo!) But seriously, my leg looks like a 3 wood. Here's a pic to compare:

But look how huge that bite is! Geez Louise, it looks like a was attacked by a mammoth mosquito. I should have put like a quarter on my leg for comparison so you could see how big it actually is. By the way, the smaller red spots are scars from many a shaving accident and all the little red dots on my leg are the signature trademark of every pasty white girl. :p

That's my life for today. I certainly hope my bite goes down. Otherwise it will be most uncomfortable.

Just Call Me Jeff Gordon

It was such an exciting day for me because it was the first time I've driven on the freeway by myself. Me and Sheniqua went all the way to Mapleton and back today. She's been on the highway before, but only once with me behind the wheel, and that was when my friend an I drove out to her bridal shower. I was quite proud of myself and very happy that I made it alive. Utah drivers are terrible, but I made it through. I get to go out there again tomorrow. Wish me luck!

My iPod picks for this week are:

"Time is Running Out" by Muse (going to see them September 12)

"You Give Love a Bad Name" by Blake Lewis (My American Idol)

"Ready to Fall" by Rise Against

"Forever Young" by So They Say

and the MCR pick of the week is....drum roll please...

"Cemetery Drive" I just can never get enough of this song. They performed it when I saw them in Seattle and I was soooooo excited. Of course I love all of their songs, but this one is just amazing!

Ouchy Pouchy

The last few days I have had this MONSTROUS canker sore underneath one of my bottom teeth. It hasn't been too bad since it's in such an inconspicuous spot, but it has really acted up today and it is disgusting. It seriously looks like a tube foot from the underside of a starfish. I would put up a picture, but it isn't very attractive. Anyway, that's my little pity party for today. Hope you all have canker-free days, because otherwise, life just isn't as fun.

I have a confession

I actually got a break at work today, so I went to the aforementioned Graywhale to see if they had that James Blunt CD. Anyway, the last two times I bought something there, the same kid has rung me up. So I walk in and he is standing right by the door, with... a My Chemical Romance messenger bag. I think he's kind of cute and he is way nice. Last time I went there, he sold me My Chem's first CD and we talked about it for a couple minutes and he was just so sweet. I think I have a bit of a crush. But he was wearing these tight red jeans that have just got to go. Other than that, he is a-okay. I just love emo boys. There was this way cute kid that used to clean the store where I work, and he was totally emo too. But he was also just incredibly nice. He was seriously the nicest kid I've ever met. My friends told me I would go bright red when I talked to him. I was so sad when he quit. So anyway, that's my confession. I have a total crush on the kid who works at Graywhale. :D <3

P.S. They didn't have the James Blunt CD, but I did end up getting a CD from So They Say.

That is the shiniest shirt I have ever seen

So, I'm watching Jimmy Kimmel right now and this dude named Peter Wolf is the musical guest. He is wearing the most unique outfit I have ever seen. He has on denim shorts with bright red suspenders, a red checkered sash around his neck, knee high green socks, bright red hair, and a seafoam green shirt PLASTERED with sequins. Oh, and he is playing a ukelele. Awesome.

Holy Power Outages, Batman!!

Ok. The power has gone out at my house 4 times in the last three day. Totally lame. It didn't bother me at first, but it is now getting kind of ridiculous. Yesterday was my sister's birthday and the power went off right before I was about to mix the frosting for her cake. It came on just in time for us to put dinner in the oven and as soon as we said the blessing, BAM! off it goes again. And then this morning, it when off right after I got up. I had to blow dry and straighten my hair in the bathroom at work. Not exciting. But, I am proud to say that I have successfully lived through it. By the way, no James Blunt CD today. Didn't get a break at work. Best hopes for tomorrow.

Rock on!

My First Blog

Wow, my first blog. So much to say and so little time! My sister-in-law has a blog on here and it is so fun to read it and see what she is up to. There are even pictures of me on there! Since I'm on the computer just about everyday, I figured I should invest in a blog as well.

I just got the new Bon Jovi CD today, and I have to say, I am a little dissappointed. When I uploaded it onto my iTunes, it labeld it as COUNTRY!! AAAAGGGHHH! I can't believe the greatest rock band of all time is now a country band. When I was at the gym the other day, their new music video was playing on CMT. So dissappointing. However, I still enjoyed the CD. They will always have a special place in my heart. ;)

Holy cow!! The Fray is on TV! It's on the public TV channel and it says that James Blunt is next. They played at UVSC (my awesome school) this year. I thought about going, but I didn't. I really want to go to the Breaking Benjamin/Three Days Grace concert this Friday, but I don't have anyone to go with. Plus, funds are running a little low this month. But hey, we only live once right?

So I was on Yahoo! today and they had this video about this kid named William Sledd who posts videos on YouTube and he is friggin' hilarious (disclaimer: his language can be colorful). His segments are called Ask A Gay Man and they are so funny and so true! I love the episode Fashion Victims Editio 2. The socks and sandals thing is something that I cannot stand either. I'm thinking of getting a sleddhead t-shirt, but I don't know if I want to spend 30 bucks for one. Maybe I'll check eBay (my absolute favorite web site) to see if they have any listings for one.

Can I just say I LOVE eBay? It is totally amazing. I got my purse from there and it is absolutely fabulous. I have had so many compliments on it. It is a My Chemical Romance (fave band) DIY purse and it is totally emo and totally hot. Here are the pictures of it from eBay:

The front...

...and the back.

Okay, James Blunt is playing "Goodbye My Lover" and it just tugs at my heartstrings everytime I hear it. Everyone should listen to it. It is amazing. I don't own it yet, but I will be making a stop at Graywhale tomorrow if I get a break at work.
If you can't tell, I LOVE music. I have the most varied taste of anybody I know. My iPod is chuck full of (at least in my opinion) the best music around. There is literally something for everybody on my iPod. I have everything from The Beatles to Breaking Benjamin, Guns 'n Roses to Green Day, Jason Mraz to Johnny Cash, and Linkin Park to Lostprophets. Although I'm not a fan of rap, hip/hop, and most country, I think everyone could find at least one song they like on my oh so beloved iPod. I don't think I could live without it. I take it with me everywhere I go. I even have an adaptor for my car, Sheniqua, so I can rock out on the road. In addition to the Bon Jovi CD, today I added "The Battle of New Orleans" by Johnny Horton and the "Teenagers" video by My Chemical Romance. By the way, anyone who hasn't seen the video for "Welcome to the Black Parade" by MCR is really missing out. It is the most amazing video I have ever seen. Seriously. Watch it. YouTube it right now. You won't be dissappointed. :D
Anyway, my iPod picks for this week are:
"Peaches" by The Presidents of the United States of America
"Time After Time" by Quietdrive (amazing cover!)
"Orange Sky" by Alexi Murdoch (heard it on Prison Break and bought it straightaway)
"Hang Me Up to Dry" by the Cold War Kids
and the MCR pick of the week:
"Under Pressure" with The Used (Best cover I've heard so far)
Anyway, this blog has been FOREVER long and probably boring, but hey, it's my first time.
Rock On!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TARA!!!
